GCSSBM hosts mentoring meetings for formerly incarcerated

"Reentry Circles" meet every Tuesday

The Gary Commission on the Social Status of Black Males (GCSSBM), in collaboration with National Alliance for the Empowerment of The Formerly Incarcerated, is sponsoring weekly “Reentry Circles.” A Reentry Circle is a self-help community circle that offers support and guidance to the reentry citizen and their families as well.

Program elements include conflict resolution training, job training program referrals, recidivism prevention training, anger management training, engaging in thriving community projects, group and one on one mentoring and community resource referrals.

Program objectives include developing increased good behavior patterns, improvement with social interactions, developing an enhanced love for self and others, developing a positive self- image and learning to cope with difficult situations.

If you have ever been arrested, charged or convicted of a crime you are encouraged to attend and participate in the reentry circle.

The meetings are held from 6 to 8 p.m., every Tuesday, 839 Broadway, 1st Floor (Green Room), Gary.
