COCHUSA elects Prelate Bishop Dale Cudjoe as Senior Bishop

Cudjoe has served 35 years as Senior Pastor of Gary's Christ Temple Church of Christ (Holiness) USA

The General Body of the Church of Christ (Holiness) USA elected Bishop Dale Cudjoe of Gary, Indiana as Senior Bishop of the holiness body during the denomination’s 127th National Convention last month.

Cudjoe is the 6th to serve as ecclesiastical head of the denomination since its founding in 1897. He succeeds Bishop Vernon E. Kennebrew of Little Rock, Arkansas.

More than 600 COCHUSA delegates traveled to Dunwoody, Georgia to attend the weeklong gathering filled with worship, workshops and auxiliary meetings hosted by the national Brotherhood Ministry (NBM), Sunday School & Holiness Youth Ministries Congress (SS & HYM), and the United Christian Women’s Ministry (UCWM).

In his new role as Senior Bishop, Cudjoe will serve as Chairman of the Board of Bishops, responsible for the general, legal, and financial administration of all COCHUSA boards and auxiliaries.

Senior Bishop Cudjoe has served 35 years as Senior Pastor of Christ Temple Church of Christ (Holiness) USA, 4201 Washington St. in Gary. Cudjoe was licensed to preach in February of 1983 and ordained as an Elder in July 1983.

He was elected as a Presiding Bishop in 2010 and consecrated in 2011 to serve the Northern Diocese (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio) as Presiding Prelate. In 2016 Cudjoe was elected to serve as First Vice President of the Board of Bishops.

He has served as Chairman of the COCHUSA National Publishing Board and was appointed to serve as the Manual Revision Committee Chair for the denomination’s Constitutional Convention in 2023.

Other roles in which Bishop Cudjoe has served within COCHUSA include: Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, Vice President then President of the District Sunday School and Holiness Young People’s Union (HYPU); District Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Illinois, Indiana & Iowa District; Diocese President of the Sunday School and HYPU.

Bishop Cudjoe has been Diocese Program Coordinator, COCHUSA National Correspondence Secretary, and the Bishop Charles Price Jones National Music Coordinator.

He is currently the COCHUSA National Prayer Coordinator, facilitates the daily COCHUSA Morning Glory Prayer time at the annual national convention, and serves as the Endorsing Agent for Chaplains for the denomination with the United States Armed Forces.

Senior Bishop Cudjoe is active in the Northwest Indiana community. He is the Grief Facilitator of the Living After Loss Adult Support Group for grieving adults for the Methodist Hospitals and the Northwest Indiana Area and currently serves as a Staff Chaplain for the Methodist Hospitals. He serves on the Complex Case Review Committee, the Bioethics Consultation Committee, and is a Certified End of Life Specialist (CEOLS).

Bishop Cudjoe holds a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, a Masters of Divinity, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree.

Bishop Cudjoe will remain in Gary. He is married to Sis. Dawn Cudjoe and has three adult children, Dana, Darren and Dominique; and three grandchildren, Jaylon, Symone and Carter.
